Our team comprises of Clinical Linguists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, and Special Education Teacher.

 

Together, we work together aiming to make a difference in the lives of those that need it the most!

Dr Norizan Binti Rajak, Ph.D

Director & Clinical Linguist

​

Dr Norizan Rajak is a clinical linguist who was based in University of Hawaii in Honolulu, Hawaii and was working with a community center with at-risk children and immigrants. She came back to her hometown Malaysia as a linguistics lecturer in Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) until she decided to create the first private multidisciplinary Intervention center in 2005.

 

Clinical Linguistics is the application of linguistic theories, concepts and methods to the study of language acquisition and disorders. Language disorders can be resulted from the breakdown of one or more language components such as prosody, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics and discourse. 

 

She also received training at Syracuse University in New York in the areas of language learning and teaching pedagogy for typical and atypical population. She conducts learning assessments and provide interventions for children with learning difficulties and advice for educational placements of children for over 20 years.

Dr Norizan has had numerous experiences over the years and has been one of the pioneers who helped to develop the Early Intervention Screening Program under the State of Selangor which is now known as Bantuan Anak Istimewa Selangor (Bantuan Anis) which has aided thousands of children with special needs throughout Selangor.

Nasirah Binti Zulkifli, OTR/L

Co-Director and Occupational Therapist

 

​​Nasirah Zulkifli started out with a hopeful and ambitious dream of wanting to make a difference. She began volunteering with NGOs such as The Nasi Lemak Project, as a part time teacher teaching the young urban poor; along with small collectives such as Makhluk Seni celebrating, fostering and respecting local talents and all types of art. From there, she started to develop an interest in the field and completed her Bachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy. She completed her Occupational Therapy clinical training at Klinik Pakar UiTM, Pusat Terapi Carakerja UiTM Puncak Alam and Hospital Selayang, Selangor.

 

Working at Urbane Ethos, it is her job to analyze and provide practical solutions to everyday problems. She has experience providing Intervention to children and teenagers who have been diagnosed with Global Development Delays (GDD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ADHD), Cornelia De Lange Syndrome, Rubenstein Taybi Syndrome, Downs Syndrome and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

 

Some of her projects include Homegrown Makhluk Seni which was focused on mental health and mental awareness during the Covid-19 pandemic. She is also a licensed Occupational Therapist and active member of Malaysian Occupational Therapy Association (MOTA). She is also certified in the Integration Primitive Reflexes and is taking ongoing courses for Sensory Integration certification.

Ms. Liyana Binti Tarmizi

Clinical Psychologist

​

Liyana completed her Clinical Psychology training at several hospital and private practices including Hospital USM, Kubang Kerian; Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre @IIUM, Kuantan; Hospital Pulau Pinang; Pusat Psikologi dan Rehabilitasi Atfal Jannah; and twenty-two: The Academy.

 

To date, she works with a diverse population of clients, ranging from infants to geriatric population. She has worked with people who are going through emotional and behavioural difficulties such as dealing with depression, anxiety, academic/work stress, grief, parenting difficulties and relationship difficulties.

 

She also works with the neurodivergent population by assessing their developmental milestones and help them to prepare for the different stages in their life. She believes in empowering her clients to learn skills for themselves in order to be more psychologically adaptive.

 

At the same time, she also believes that the family and friends can be a great support system to thrive amidst complicated life situations, given the right support. When necessary, she recommends for collaboration with other professionals in a multidisciplinary approach to ensure clients get a holistic approach for their wellbeing.

Mrs Norizzati Afiqah, OTR/L

Head of Occupational Therapy Department

​

Norizzati Afiqah is the Head Occupational Therapist who has worked passionately with children for the past 10 years. She is experienced in conducting assessments and occupational interventions to children and adolescents with developmental delays to aid their cognitive, physical, motor development. Norizzati also has experience in special education and aided to help develop screening and learning programs under the State of Selangor.

 

She completed her bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) based in Puncak Alam.

 

She is also a member of the Malaysian Occupational Therapy Association (MOTA).
